Everything was falling apart, falling apart so hard. Lunx had so many thoughts running through his head, and he despised the vast majority of them.
Nothing was right. He had wanted to know the truth, but now he wished he could forget. It wasn’t fair! None of it was fair!
The things Alexei had shown him… they had broken his mind, and his heart, but they did make sense out of most things. In that, Alexei had been true to his word.
Had Lunx made the right decision? Given his past history with decisions, it seemed astronomically unlikely. But at the same time, he had never been this torn about a decision before. Maybe he should have stayed dead. Maybe it would be better for everyone if his soul was torn to pieces – that way he could never hurt anyone again.
But of course he could not make that decision. He wasn’t ready to leave his family. He needed more time with them, more time to make up for everything he had put them through. He would stand at his brother’s side until the end, because that was where he belonged, if he had ever belonged anywhere. And when the end came – well, maybe Lunx would finally do the right thing… maybe he would finally be a hero.
