Garret was pacing.
Borin was pacing.
Lunx tried his best to ignore them both. He was sitting in the centre of the room, staring intently at the stone, as if engaged in a silent battle of wits with it.
Tell me your secrets. What does Blu want with you?
It all didn’t sit right with Lunx. As best as he could tell, all the thing did was tell the pure from the impure of heart – how would that benefit his brother? Not to mention, why would he want to bring it into the Realm of Chaos? Nothing made sense.
After a few minutes, Lunx rose. They had waited long enough.
“It is time” he told his companions, and they grabbed his shoulder, and he picked up the stone and bent space.
Almost immediately Lunx felt that something was wrong. His minds projection of the destination was distorted by an outside force, and the trajectory between dimensions was violently redirected.
When they reappeared – merely an instant after they disappeared, yet long enough that Lunx had plenty of opportunity to suffer at the hands of whatever power had overridden his – Lunx found that they were still in the dark tower. But not exactly where they left from… no, further down. The source of the mishap was behind them, the power source they had ignored because it was too heavily guarded. And now there they were, surrounded by evil half-naked cultists, and what could only be the Hag queen herself.
I told them we should have looked closer at this source… Lunx thought to himself.
